Free concert series set for Pioneer Park
Events run into September
By Lorie Palmer

GRANGEVILLE — Mark your calendars now for three nights of music in the coming months.
Grangeville Arts. Inc., will offer a free summer concert series beginning July 14. Performances will also take place Aug. 4 and Sept. 12.
“We wanted to offer a set of family-friendly musical performances at a place where everyone could easily gather,” said Grangeville Arts, Inc., member Rachel Young.
July 14, Bare Wires
Bare Wires will play Tuesday, July 14. This band is made up of four men who started playing music years and miles apart. They finally came together in Moscow. Blues is the thread that holds it all together, with scraps of rock, and other genes of music woven in. Lyrics and music — spawned from life experiences and vivid imaginations — make Bare Wires a one-of-a-kind band. They play an eclectic mix of original material best described as a hearty blues/rock mix, along with several carefully selected cover tunes.
Aug. 4, The All American Boys Chorus
The All-American Boys Chorus, which will perform Tuesday, Aug. 4, features youngsters ages 9 to 14 from more than 30 cities in southern California.
Forty-four concert tours to Europe, Asia, Canada and throughout the USA make The All-American Boys Chorus one of the most widely traveled boy’s choirs in the world. The boys are under the direction on Wesley Martin and will present a “Salute to America’s Music.”
Sept. 12, Big Red Barn
The band Big Red Barn, Based in Spokane, Wash., will present a concert Saturday, Sept. 12. Big Red Barn plays a funky blend of bluegrass, blues, country, jazz and other string-band music. During the past six years this quartet has forged their unique sound at various festivals and events across the Inland Northwest. Big Red Barn’s infectious sound has been captured on their self-titled debut CD released November 2005.
All concerts will take place at Pioneer (Grangeville City) Park. All performance start at 6 p.m. Bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets. VIP seating is available for a $50 donation to Grangeville Arts, Inc.; otherwise, all concerts are free, however, donations will be accepted to offset expanses.
The free concert series is sponsored by The Grangeville Chamber of Commerce and Grangeville Arts.

Idaho Theater for Youth

September 14th, 2007 by Jane

I followed J. Bennett’s suggestion and asked the GEMS principal if the school could contribute to the cost this year. Mr. Stefani offered to pay the entire cost! So we can put our money to other, equally good use. Jane
