Pat Gehring of Cottonwood is the Central Idaho Art Association’s Artist of the Month. Her work will be on display this month at Wells Fargo in Grangeville. More info is available through CIAA president Rick Weholt 962 7306.

Many students from the Grangeville Elementary Middle School are having their art go to the state competition. Awards will be given out at a reception 5/17 Thursday evening at the McGee Elementary School in Lewiston.

The Boise Weekly’s Spring Arts Quarterly mentions children book author Karma Wilson as well as the changing of the curator at the Lewis-Clark State College Center for the Arts and History.

I just found an Idaho artists site at www.idahoartists.com. It seems oriented towards marketing artists, but interesting none the less. For those with a good internet connection.

The Boise Arts Commission has a site up and they share a list of 10 characteristics that make up a healthy arts community. I like item 8, except for the tourism part:
“8.) The arts are valued as an industry because of their contribution to the new economy, which encompasses quality of life, economic development and tourism.”
